Bear Peak is a group of steep sided mountains pushed up against, and into, the White Mountain National Forest, resulting in a great variety of skiing terrain. In fact, Attitash is one of the few ski resorts in New Hampshire that hosts big names ski shows like the ATP free-ride series, so if you're into watching big air this is the resort to choose. But don’t let that intimidate you. Whether you are looking for smooth groomed cruisers or steep bump runs, there is something for everyone on Attitash. For the little ones there is even a section with a conveyor belt right next to the lodge that makes life easier for the kids and parents alike.

Typically the mountain feels pretty clear, and the lift-lines are short as there are severalto get your to your ski run destination, but on holiday weekendsyou can definitely expect a bit of a wait. In regards to the snow, recent upgrades to snow-making now takes care of any abnormally low snow days or months – so you don’t have to plan too much according to weather during the season.

When it comes to where to stay, slope-side lodging at Attitash is sparse, but more options have popped up over the past few years. Your best option is The Grand Summit Hotel, otherwise you should look into condo rentals or timeshare options if you plan to visit often. A short drive to the "Valley" will provide more options. There you can choose from a variety of B&B's and hotels like The Lodge, The Bernerhof Inn, or the Inn at Thorn Hill.

Après ski in Attitash, and any life after dark for that matter, is pretty much limited to the Grand Summit Hotel's Ptarmigan Pub. Here you can findfine dining and a more upscale bar scene. If you are in the mood for something a little more local and down to earth head across the street (Route 302) toMatty B's. Otherwise, a short drive to the Red Parka Pub will provide a night of live music, great pub fare, and lots of local and not so local brews to choose from.

If you're looking for something more luxurious and elegant you'll have to take a fifteen-minute drive to Jackson or North Conway. Both have top notch dining options like the Wentworth Hotel, or the 1785 Inn, and a myriad of other options that will satisfy any particular tastebuds. I'm partial to the 1785, they've got a dynamite wine selection and every time I've been there the food has been incredible, ask to sit by the fireplace on a typical January eve and you'll be quite comfortable.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

From Boston, MA and Rhode Island:

- Route 95 North
- In Portsmouth, NH, take Exit # 4 onto the Spaulding Turnpike/Route 16 North
- (This exit is on the left for NH Lakes/White Mountains)
- Follow Route 16 all the way into the Mount Washington Valley/Conway Village
- In Conway Village, go through two sets of lights & take a left at the third set of lights (continuing North on Route 16)
- Follow Route 16 into Glen, NH
- Proceeding straight, go through the light in Glen onto Route 302 West 
(Route 16 goes to the right)
- Follow Route 302 West 3 miles the Attitash Base Lodge will be on your left.

From Manchester, NH Airport:

- Route 93 North to Exit 23 onto Rt.104
- Follow Route 104 until 3rd set of lights
- Take a left at lights into Meredith Village
- Take a right at the lights onto Route 25 East
- Follow Route 25 East to Route 16 North
- Follow Route 16 North into Conway Village
- At the third light in Conway Village take a left, following Route 16 North
- Follow Route 16 North into Glen, NH
- Proceeding Straight, go through the light in Glen onto Route 302 West (Route 16 goes to the right)
- Follow Route 302 West 3 miles the Attitash Base Lodge will be on your left.

From Portland, ME:

- Route 302 West - following signs for Mt. Washington Valley/North Conway
- In North Conway Route 302 West and Route 16 North intersect and merge
- Follow Route 16/302 North into Glen, NH
- Proceeding straight, go through the light in Glen onto Route 302 West (Route 16 goes to the right)
- Follow Route 302 West 3 miles passing Attitash Base Lodge on your left
- Proceed 7/10 of a mile past Attitash Base Lodge
- The Attitash Grand Summit Hotel and Conference Center is on the left at the Bear Peak Entrance

From Portland, ME Airport:

- Follow signs to Route 95 North
- Take Route 95 North until 1st exit to Route 302 West
- Proceed with directions from Portland, ME

From Connecticut:

- Follow Route 95 North into Portsmouth, NH and follow directions above for Boston, Massachusetts and Rhode Island

From Montreal, Canada:

- Highway 10 East to Route 55 South
- Follow Route 55 to the Vermont border
- In Vermont pick up I-91 South to 93 South
- To 302 East - Follow Route 302 East
- After traveling through Crawford Notch you will enter Bartlett Village
- Proceed 1.8 miles from the flashing light in Bartlett Village
- The Attitash Grand Summit Hotel and Conference Center is on the right at the Bear Peak Entrance

From New York City, NY:

- Take I-95 North to I-91 North to I-84 East to I-90 East (Mass Pike).
- Take I-90 East to I-495 North to I-95 North.
- Proceed with directions from Boston, MA and Rhode Island.
