It may cost a bundle to ski at Squaw Valley during daylight hours, but not so in the evening, when ticket prices drop to a third of the day rate. From 4-9 p.m. Fri.-Sun. and 4-7 p.m. weekdays, Squaw lights up the 3.2-mile, blue-level Mountain Run from High Camp to the village floor. Night skiers take the cable car to High Camp, where they can have dinner or drinks at Alexander’s before or after their schuss. The Mountain Run is lit up by a 1,000-watt, color-corrected floodlight system, designed to make easier vision on the snow. Skiers in possession of a daytime lift ticket can ski free at night, so there’s no reason not to go for a couple extra runs.
