Best Apres Ski in Taos - The Bavarian

Taos Ski Valley isn't much like the rest of the Southwest. Aside from the breathtaking alpine landscape at the top of New Mexico, the village and resort are actually modeled on European ski towns in the Alps. It's one of the few places in the state where green chile and adobe doesn't dominate the scene. The finest example of TSV's unique character can be found at the base of the Kachina Lift, where the Bavarian Lodge and Restaurant sits secluded on its own among the pines, surveying 360-degree views of the Sangre de Cristos.

The German-born owner has taken pains to recreate a traditional Bavarian Lodge right down to the servers in lederhosen, the jagerschnitzel and, of course, the draft beer sent straight from Munich. Relaxing on the Bavarian's welcoming wooden outdoor deck with a mug of Spaten in the almost-guaranteed New Mexico sun after a long day is a good bet to become one of your favorite moments of your time here - depending on how well you fared on Kachina Ridge that day...
