As you may have read in Part 1 of our Ski Trip Checklist, we highly recommend the use of a hard-cased "ski tube" to pack your skis or snowboard (whether you're shipping ahead of time or bringing them with you). Not only will it's hard casing protect your favorite skis or board for seasons to come but it comes with wheels so you can save your back pain for the slopes, instead of the airport. Usually priced around $100-200, depending on size (you can get tubes that accommodate up to 3 pairs of skis), it's a small investment to protect what's become a much larger one. And you can also use it to pack any clothes or other items that might not fit into the rest of your luggage. Over-packers...you know who you are.
