Vail Website

Vail’s skiable terrain is huge at 5,289 acres, yet the overall experience is intimate. This is a true luxury mountain town that welcomes individual skiers, groups and families equally, and consistently ranks as the number one resort choice in many surveys.

The vast expanse across seven miles and 3,450 vertical feet is big enough to provide an average of only 3 skiers per acre with every conceivable type of terrain experience. Vail is too big to describe in one definition, but it is small enough to make almost any ski vacation desire happen. Visitors who expect the best of everything will find it in Vail.

All levels and ages are treated to patient ski school excellence—a great way to get the most out of the massive amount of groomed runs, mogul fields, tree runs and terrain parks. Kids especially enjoy all of the mountain attractions such as the ski-through “magic forest” and Fort Whippersnapper.

Guests don’t even have to ski to ride the gondola and take in stunning views of Mt. Holy Cross and the Gore Range, enjoy multiple dining options at Eagle’s Nest, and play at night at Adventure Ridge with ice skating, tubing, snowmobiling, ski biking and other zany activities.

Beyond this relatively small section of Vail are endless activity possibilities from the snowcat ride to a five star dinner at the Game Creek Club, to back-country hut trips, dog sledding, and even tandem paragliding. The list of adventures is large and diverse, but each is individually tailored through resort concierges.

Dining options are endless and span every type of cuisine and atmosphere imaginable. During the day, on mountain options include the massive Two Elk Lodge at 11,400 feet above sea level featuring award winning green chili and dozens of other exceptional lunch choices. Opposite in attitude is the tiny and rustic Wildwood, with succulent wood-smoked meats served with views of 14,000 ft mountains across the valley and glimpses into two of the seven infamous back-bowls below your picnic table. Many other on-mountain restaurants offer excellence too, from private dining clubs, to ski-through sandwich huts and everything in between.

The number of exquisite boutiques, galleries and restaurants is large, but the service that each provides is friendly and unique and belies the “rich and famous” reputation. Most of the shops are tiny gems that glow with holiday lights and make the European-styled village hum, and every visitor feels welcome to peruse any store. The locals work here, live here and love it, and it shows in the personal care and attention that they share with their guests.

Big-name musicians bring their shows into a small town venue, with free outdoor street concerts each week on the heated cobblestones and the party continues in the numerous nightclubs and hotspots that rock until the wee hours. Live music spills onto the streets from many establishments, but the nightlife doesn’t exude a wild personality, just a lively atmosphere.

The options are endless for anything you want your ski vacation to be in Vail. Ritzy yet comfortable, guest service beyond your expectations, and one of the very best ski experiences you will ever find, Vail’s big reputation results in individual exquisite experiences.
