Many of the resorts in the States have shut down for the season, due to warming weather and melting snow, but not Canada! The Canadian Rockies are still enjoying spring ski, with the spring ski season still going strong.
Sunshine Village, whom is already famous for its impeccable spring skiing conditions, has reported a whopping 30cm of snow fall this past week, with more snow in their projected forecast. Officials of the resort have reported that their snow base was 213cm, with over 30ft of snowfall this season. Business is going so well, in fact, that the resort is hosting a spring concert series this upcoming weekend to kick off the spring ski season.
The beautiful Lake Louise Resort has received snowfall every single day of the week this week, resulting in over 45cm of snow fall in the last week alone. In similar scenario to Sunshine Village, Lake Louise is also experiencing some of their most epic spring ski conditions in their history this season.
Even Nakiska Resort, who is not exactly known for having prime spring skiing, is remaining open and fully operational through May 4. Nakiska has received a remarkable 50cm of fresh powder over the past week, with temperatures averaging around 8 degrees C. With these warm, sunshiny temperatures, and fresh powder in April, Nakiska is sounding pretty delightful about now!
So, moral of the story, if you are itching to get a couple more runs in before the heat of the summer really kicks in, head north! It appears that the Canadian Rockies will be participating in Spring Skiing for a couple more weeks to come.
